The National Alliance on Mental Illness is the largest advocacy group for mental illness in the country. We are eager to build our NAMI Metro advocacy voice in the local communities to bring about improvement, education and support for those impacted by severe mental illness. Our Board of Directors is looking forward to leading a welcoming, friendly, open and transparent organization for consumers, families and the community.
Our mission will focus on education, support and advocacy for the many people who are impacted by severe mental illness. We want to be the source of reliable information for people whose loved ones suffer from a mental illness.
We are asking for your membership in our organization and we would hope that you, as a member, would want to actively participate. A large membership organization creates a critical mass and establishes an advocacy voice to be heard to help those with a mental illness. As a member, if you want to get engaged, you will find many opportunities to actively participate in our various committees or planned functions. If you are not prepared to actively engage, your membership is still vitally important. By becoming a member, you will get ongoing communications and updated news on what is happening locally, in the state and nationally. Please become a member and have your voice be included so legislators, agencies, etc. know you are an advocate for mental illness issues, services, treatment and against discrimination of the mentally ill.
Of the annual dues you pay to NAMI Metro it provides you with our monthly e-newsletter, quarterly printed newsletter, membership log-in for areas of our website that is accessible only by members and much more. $12.50 of your dues to NAMI Metro are used to register your full membership in NAMI Michigan and ten dollars is used to register you as a full member with the NAMI national organization. With these memberships, you will receive local, state and national publications to keep you up to date on current issues facing the mentally ill. Membership also entitles you to discounts on annual conferences.
