NAMI Metro “Breaking The Chains of Mental Illness”

An Inspiring Evening Had by All
Breaking the Chains of Mental Illness

NAMI Metro celebrated a year of friendship, acceptance and personal triumphs during a magical evening that was held at the Livonia Marriott. NAMI Metro invited its members and guests to be entertained, fed a lovely strolling dinner, educated, and most importantly – accepted.

Dan Leach of 97.1 The Ticket radio, emceed the event as over 100 guests attended the night’s activities that became heavy with the sound of laughter and, at times, the appearance of a few tears.

Guests were entertained and drawn to silence as they heard the stories and the wonderful voices of the Therapy Choir of Michigan. Their rendition of the Righteous Brothers, Unchained Melody moved every guest in the room. It was truly an unforgettable experience.

Congresswoman Debbie Dingell was an incredible keynote speaker for the evening. She blurred the party lines and shared personal stories of tragedy along with her intense desire to champion mental health positions within government. Her time at the podium captivated the audience and brought the room to their feet.

Magician, Anthony Grupido, wowed the guests throughout the night by showcasing his magic tricks table side. Ultimately, his tricks culminated into a fabulous on stage magic show that showcased Anthony’s own journey of being chained by mental illness. His message was inspiring, heartfelt and affirming.
